Helping the Children and People of Bali Restore their Eyesight and Live a Life Full of Opportunity
McKinley Plowman believe it is important to connect with our community and contribute where we can to assist others less fortunate than ourselves.
In July 2014, Nigel Plowman, Alec Blacklaw and Dominic Rollerson attended a best practice accounting conference in Bali with PAN Proactive Accountants Network.
On the plane on the way over Alec was fortunate enough to sit next to a father and daughter from Perth who told him why they were going to Bali. Kate, a year 10 student had raised monies as part of her school project to help restore eyesight for children in Bali who were cataract blind.
Alec was so inspired by Kate’s story and efforts and felt that we could do something to help and contribute towards the awesome work done by the John Fawcett Foundation.
Alec spoke with Rob Nixon the founder of PAN who was running the event and asked to speak to the 400 accountants in attendance to see if together we could raise funds to help the local Balinese live a more probable life filled with opportunity.
Rob agreed to contribute 10% of the subscriptions of those who were prepared to pay for the next year’s subscription in advance. More than $38,000 was raised plus further funds collected by Alec, the team at McKinley Plowman and other attendees.
McKinley Plowman will continue to support the John Fawcett Foundation and will support and fund the adopt a village program in Bali.
To find out in more detail what our donations are doing to help or if you would like to make a tax deductible donation head over to the John Fawcett Foundation and quote McKinley Plowman or get in touch with Alec Blacklaw for further information at alec.blacklaw@mckinleyplowman.com.au.
